There's an engagement in the Family!

1 Hunk of a Man + 1 Gorgeous Girl
A very good looking Engaged couple

 Meet Logan and Savanna
My brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law
Don't they make a cute couple?
Love them. And SO excited for them
(plus a little excited for myself.  A new sister!)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Saturday morning, Cameron and I woke up bright and early.
We got in our car and drove to the Targhee National Forest.
There we went Christmas Tree Hunting to cut down our very own tree.
It was quite the adventure!

And the Finished Product...

Temple Square

In Utah, there is a beautiful landmark called Temple Square.
People come from all over to see this amazing place.
Every Christmas, Temple Square is lit up with thousands of lights.
And almost every year, my family goes to see them.

This year, we kept the tradition alive.
My wonderful family.  Spending Thanksgiving with them was a dream come.  Sometimes I think I can never get enough.   Left to Right: [Top Row] Lexie (Kenny's Girlfriend), Kenny, AD, Carson, Jordan, Mom, Grandma Walker, Me, Cameron [Bottom Row] Heather, Natalie, Braden, Alisa, Dad

My sister Heather, her husband AD, and there two children Carson and Natalie.  I'm obsessed with the two little ones.  They are moving to Denver next week and my heart is slowly breaking.

And of course, myself and the love of my life. I love him. I really do.

Tonight I went to a fireside for church.  The topic was modesty.  It was beautiful.  Tender feelings were shared, discussion was consistent, and laughter was a key element.
Let me reiterate: It was beautiful.

The topic of modesty is something that I have a strong belief in.
What is my belief?
Our bodies are gifts from God.  We have been given them to accomplish great things.  We should respect our bodies, and demand respect from those around us.  We gain respect by displaying our bodies in a pure and beautiful manner.  What we wear and how we display our bodies symbolizes the commitment and feelings we hold within our heart. It is an outward expression of an inward belief.

I am grateful for a Husband who respects me and believes in modesty.
I am grateful for a mother who taught me the importance of modesty.
I am grateful for a God who has asked me to live a life of modesty.
I am grateful for a personal testimony of modesty.

Long time, no post!

I know, I know. It's been ages since I've posted.  And for many different reasons....too busy, procrastinating, moments of feeling anti blogging, nothing to blog about, etc.
But I'm here! And I just want to post a few pictures.....

A few months ago, Cameron and I had our 1 year anniversary.  I can't believe that we have been married for a year (especially since so many of my friends are going on 3 years).  And I can't believe how much my love for Cameron has grown.   He is everything to me, and I will always be grateful that God brought him into my life.

Here are some pictures of us eating the top of our wedding cake.

Poor Cameron.  I just couldn't help myself :)

A few weeks ago we celebrated a little holiday called Halloween.  Have you heard of it?  Well anyhow, it's a lot of fun.  I highly recommend it.  We dressed up as Tinker Bell and Peter Pan.

Last weekend I went down to Utah to celebrate my birthday with my dear twin brother Kenny.
(He's single ladies, and quite the catch)
I am so blessed to have Kenny in my life.  Here is a person who I can be completely myself around and who appreciates that.  Those who know us, know we are absolutely ridiculous around each other.  A couple of goofballs we are. Seriously.

My birthday was this past Monday, and for my birthday, Cameron had a little surprise party planned (which I ruined! I came home early and saw what was going on.  This is the second surprise party for myself that I have ruined)  But it was still lovely.  And my dear friend Elizabeth made me a birthday cake of my two favorite colors.

I know it's a small update, and not much, but at least it is one!
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday night.

The wedding I designed and planned was featured on the
Utah Bride Blog
This is so exciting!
Now I am able to show more than just my dear family and friends the work that I can do.
Please go check it out and tell me what you think!!

You can see it HERE

Hey there Y'all!!
We're sitting in the airport waiting for our plane to arrive.
Where is this plane taking us?
Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Weekend!

Quick Update!

I've been gone for so long!  Why?  Life is busy!  But I will give a quick update.

I started my job on Monday.  Woo hoo!!  I have my own cubicle, business card, computer, clients, etc.  And so far, it's been wonderful.

It's been decided! Cameron and I are saving up to BACKPACK EUROPE next August.  I know it's over a year away but I'm already making plans.  (For those of you who know me well, it's been a lifelong dream!)

Cameron started school and is busy, busy, busy.  But he still makes time for me :)

My two wonderful brother-in-laws graduated with their Bachelor's!  I'm so proud AD and Logan.

The wedding I planned was wonderful!  I'll have to show you pictures when the photographer is done.

Tomorrow is the Royal Wedding......and yes, I may be getting up at 4 a.m. to watch it live.  At the age of....nine, I woke up close to that same time to watch the funeral of Princess Diana.  I use to be one of her big fans (newspaper clippings on the wall, a photo book, etc.)

Until I have more time, Farewell!

Aunt Bonnie

I PROMISE that you will love the two stories I have to tell about my Aunt Bonnie.
Aunt Bonnie is my Grandma's sister.
The other day, she and my grandma were talking about getting old, and they were exchanging stories about forgetting, mistakes made, etc.
The following stories are from my Aunt Bonnie.

Story #1
Aunt Bonnie had a terrible headache, and had to take a couple of tylenol.
She was worried about waking up in the middle of the night with another headache, so she put two tablets of Tylenol on her nightstand in case she woke up, then went to sleep.
Sure enough, she woke up with another headache.  She took the Tylenol and went back to sleep.
In the morning she woke up, looked on her nightstand and saw......
ONE Tylenol tablet......and ONE hearing aid.

Story #2
Aunt Bonnie went in for a physical exam at the doctors.
She went into her stall, took off her clothes and put on one of those hospital gowns, and went in to the doctor.  She had her exam (I'm pretty sure it went well)
She went back into the stall, put back on the clothes, and went home.
After arriving at home, she got a call from the doctor's.
"Bonnie?  Do you think you might have put the wrong clothes back on?"
"I don't know? Did I?"
Aunt Bonnie looked down at what she was wearing.  Sure enough, the clothes she was wearing did NOT belong to her.
She went back to the doctor's to find a lady sitting in a hospital gown waiting for her clothes.

Do you have ANY stories that can top that???
If so, PLEASE share.
If you want to read another funny story similar,
go read a story on my sister's blog HERE.

My thoughts are ALL over the place tonight.

Lately I have not been getting very good sleep.
Lately means for a long time.
I go to sleep just dandy, but in the middle of the night I wake up because I have to use the ladies room and then I toss and turn for an hour or so trying to drift ever so softly back to sleep.  Has that been happening?  NO!  Oh, and if I'm not already tired from not getting sleep, I feel even more tired from the crazy dreams I have.
In the past week I have had dreams that include...
What is that all about???

On another note, I currently have the highest score in a {GAME} that Hubby and I are competing in.
As embarrassed as I am to admit it, it's a game on his phone.  Called Brick Breaker.
(Cameron got VERY close to beating my score in this picture)
Yes, I know it's a basic and simple game.  But when you come from a competitive family such as myself?  Anything can be made into a BIG competition.

I loved the following statement made my Cameron last night!!
Kristin: Cameron....I'm sleeping next to a boy!
Cameron: (in the voice of pinocchio) I'm a man!  I'm a REAL man!!

As a lover of fashion, photography, and design....
I can't help but wonder sometimes
What's with all the hype??
Sometimes I catch myself spending hours
browsing blogs full of fashion, photography, and design
And I can't help but think.....why is there such an emphasis on these things?
Don't get me wrong, I blog about them too, but why do I?
Just thoughts I've been having.

I'm gonna go read a book now.

Tea Time

Have I mentioned that I was hired as a wedding planner?
Well, if I haven't, then there you have it!
A dear friend of mine hired me to plan her wedding.  It has been bliss.
Next weekend is one of her bridal showers, and I designed the invitation
(as well as decided the theme)

It was so much fun to do!

Home Sweet....WHAT??

The other day I was walking up to my apartment after a small trip to Utah
I was probably thinking how {HAPPY} I was to be home
I'm almost to my door when I see a very disturbing sight outside my neighbor's door

Do you know what that is??? Do you???
It's a the skin of a {DEAD RACOON}
Please tell me that is disgusting
Well, what else can I say....There's no place like Home?

Dear Daddy...

Happy Birthday!!

I truly hope this day is a special one
Even though you are all the way in Germany, I hope you feel my love
You have made me one VERY special girl
I always wonder how it was that I got so lucky to have you as a Dad
I know that I am who I am today, because of you
Would you like to know what I inherited because of YOU?
Here goes...
You gave me a passion for life and the things I love to do
An eye for creativity
A sense of responsibility
Patience and Persistence
A belief in God
The joy of Hard Work
Knowledge of what a relationship should be like
And much, much, more
I love you Daddy!
Happy 51st Birthday!

A Kiss of a Blueberry Muffin

Cameron was eating a blueberry muffin from Costco {Divine} and I was stealing bits of his muffin.
This made him a little upset (not really)
The conversation that followed went something like this

Cameron: You haven't even eaten dinner yet!
Me: I know (giggling and smiling my feminine smile)
Cameron: (Looking sheepishly away from my gaze) None of our girls better look like you, because I will give in ALL the time
Me: (giggle)
Cameron: (smile)
Me: (giggle some more and give him more of that "Kristin" smile)
And then, Cameron leans in for a kiss.
It was perfect....until....
I feel a chewed up piece of blueberry muffin pushed into my mouth.

GROSS!! Right??
He thinks he's SO funny
Ok, maybe he is....a little

Ah, Poetry

I was gone from my loving husband for almost two weeks.
I was very happy to return to him.
He picked me up from the airport in Salt Lake City with a big smile and a beautiful pink rose.
We stayed in Utah for the next couple of days, and just drove into Rexburg this evening.
This is what awaited me at our apartment.

See that white piece of paper?  It's a poem that he wrote for me!
I couldn't resist sharing it with you.

My Last Two Weeks

I made a whole lot of spaghetti all for myself
But that's just it, there was no one else!
I would toss & turn all night,
Hoping to see the most beautiful sight
I ran for exercise, keeping a good pace
But without you there, it felt like empty Space
I would come home to no one, like the old single days
But then I would say "It's just a matter of days."
I did not write this so you would feel bad,
Instead I wrote this to show you I'm Glad.
When I am down, you make me pick up my feet,
And when you are around, I feel so complete.
I want you to know,
My love will always grow
For this Green eyed beauty I've come to know.
I love you so dearly,
And so dearly you'll be,
My Love, My Everything and always My Queen!

I love him so dearly. How did I get so lucky??

First off, went and saw Oprah today. Yay!
Hurried and got in a taxi and went back to the hotel.
Zipped up my bags and got in another taxi to the airport.
Got into the airport and stood in long line to check in.
Set my suitcase up on the scale...too heavy....take it off to move things to my carry on.
Set suitcase up on the scale...still too heavy....take it off to move things to my carry on.
Finally, my bag is a good weight.
The man asks, "You're on the 6:05 flight?"
I say, "Yes"
Man looks confused, asks to see my papers.
Man STILL looks confused.
Man finds the answer.
"Uh, you are schedule to fly out the 18th of MARCH, not the 18th of February."

About to board a plane...

Right now, I am sitting in the Salt Lake City Airport, ready to board a plane that will take me to Phoenix.
Then I will board a plane in Phoenix that will take me here
Thank you Google Images
I am going to visit my sister, Jenny

Can you tell I'll have fun? I'm so excited for her to make me laugh!

Why is she in Chicago?
She is on tour with the 25th Anniversary Broadway tour of Les Miserables.
She is playing Cosette, and I finally get to see her performance!
I'm so excited to see her, and spend time with her.

Bon Voyage!

Lately, Mr. Bassett and I have been playing a lot of YAHTZEE.
I'm become a bit {obsessed}
Well, the other day, he got 4 Yahtzees in one game!
Do you understand how rare that is?
And for each additional Yahtzee after the first, you get 100 points!
He had a total of 633 points
I was very put out.
However, tonight I redeemed myself.
I rolled 5 Yahtzees! Which gave me a total of....
722 points!

As you can see, I am very proud of myself

P.S. The other night we went country dancing.
We love to do that together.
And let's be honest, there's nothing like dancing with the person you love.

What do you and YOUR love do??
And if you don't have one yet, what do you hope to do??

What do I say?

I've been wanting to blog, but I just haven't found the words!
Do you want to know why?
Hardly anything has been going on.
Ok, that's a lie, but it's what I FEEL like.
Here is the truth of what we went on this weekend.

Drove into Rexburg to see my hubby wearing his shirt that's my favorite (on purpose).
Dinner at Gator Jacks (a restaurant where the decor is amazing but the food could be better)
Read some more of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Our friends Dillon and Jane came over to play CLUE.
Church on Sunday (always lovely)
Yahtzee with the hubby.
Parmesan Chicken for dinner (YUM!)
Games with Molly and Lane, Kyle and Alyssa, and Brad and Jenna.
Monday morning.....slept in, Hallelujah!
Finished reading Harry Potter (Cameron said he was choking up)
Went to the Gym (Yeah, Baby!!)
Late Lunch at Craigo's/never ending pizza :)
Family Night with Dillon and Jane + finally watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Had the honor of driving Husband to school
Conquered phone interview (YES!)
And so on....

Wait a second, I did do a lot of stuff!  It really was a great weekend and I'm so happy that I had Cameron all to myself (no school, no job, no nothin)

I am one LUCKY girl.

A Good Laugh

While I've been here in Utah, I haven't been up to that much.
So, there isn't really anything to report.
I've just been busy doing puzzles, babysitting, going to appointments, and so on.
BUT, I was introduced to a rare musician that you will not believe is real.
Apparently, my family went to a recent comedian who did an impression of this musician.

His name is Tiny Tim

You make me smile

You make me smile like the sun, fall outta bed
Sing like a bird,
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record,
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like fool,
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold,
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

"You make me Smile" by Uncle Kracker

That's our song :)

Currently I'm in Utah. I have a dentist appointment, and some other stuff.
Cameron is in Idaho.
I wish he was with me right now.

What is YOUR song?

Peek into recent happenings

I know it was over a week ago, but can I take a moment and talk about New Year's Eve???
For about the past 3 or 4 years, we've had a tradition of getting together with some of my relatives for New Year's Eve. We eat LOTS of food (including my uncle's homemade salsa.....to die for!), talk a lot, and play games.  Well, my family recently got the game ROLLICK for Christmas.  It's like Charades, but instead of one person acting out for the whole team, it's the whole team acting out for one or more people.
Let's just say it's hilarious.

Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself.

Oh, and P.S.

Better late then NEVER....right?

SO......Cameron and I have been married for over 4 months now, and sadly we have still {NOT} sent out our Thank You cards!!  How terrible, right?  At this point, who would even want one now.  They're probably all thinking how selfish and ungrateful we are.  Oh dear.....

But never fear, I am still going to do it!  I've been putting a couple together and I can't decide which one I like.  They're really simple and basic (my design skills are not as great as some people).  I'll probably end up changing them completely or creating a different one.

But all the same...
Which one do YOU like??

Just a normal looking one
This is a definite No Go, 70's theme, Cameron doesn't like it :)
And then of course, one that will update them about Cameron and I

True Love and Boredom

I am now a college graduate! The sky is the limit, and I am free!!  I could do what I want, go where I desire, no more homework, no more projects.....I'm done!

Did I mention I don't have a JOB yet?

I am bored. Deliriously bored.

I keep trying to come up with what to do with my time.
So far I have.....

Organized our storage closet
Made homemade corn chowder (will share recipe soon!)
Gone shopping (not the smartest thing to do when bored)
Read blogs
Updated MY blog
Job searched
Slept in
Watched Iron Chef (my secret obsession)
Read books
Read magazines
and probably a lot more of unproductive work

What do I do with myself???

P.S. I got a text from my husband asking me to come to his work meeting with him where dinner will be
My thoughts: Go to his meeting? Won't I feel awkward?  There goes my BBQ/Ranch chicken dinner plans tonight.  Should I stay or should I go? Do I really want to sit silently while he and the other people there discuss how to tape someone's ankle or why it's important to stretch after a workout? But then again, it's kinda sweet how he wants me there....isn't it?

My Answer: Okey Dokey Artichokie!

I think he loves me!

I wanted to take a picture of my nephew with his new sister niece, and when I said Cheese, he went all the way!

Let's take a little {CLOSER} look

Love this little guy

The Past Holiday

The past two weeks have been filled with so many different things.  And at the same time, there was a lot of time filled with absolutely nothing! Let's just say that I definitely got more than enough sleep and and spent a lot of time being lazy.
But here are some things I DID do over the holiday.

I bought this cashmere sweater (except with cream buttons) from GAP for under $9.
What a bargain!

We played games.....LOTS of games
Cameron and I have been reading the seventh Harry Potter.  We read aloud (mostly, I read aloud) and it's pulling me in just like it did the first time I read it.
I've started this book, and I really hope to finish it.  After living in Virginia and interning in DC, I have developed a deep love for the history of our country

We dressed Kenya up in a Santa outfit that Derek sent home from Canada

I spent lots of time with my nephew Carson, and my NEW niece, Natalie.  Carson is the love of my life (aside from Cameron of course) and spending time with him is wonderful!

This picture has a story behind it.....over the Christmas break my family found out we had MICE. Yes, you read right, MICE.  We think it's because of the remodeling we had done.  Somewhere an entrance was made, and they are making their own little hotel in our home.  The best part?  The other night I was doing a puzzle when I SAW A MOUSE run across the floor behind the armchair.  All I could do what point wide-eyed and mutter "Uh....there....uh.....uh...."  I about scared the pants everyone who was sitting in the room.  It was not a happy sight to see my brother and dad kill it with a broom and dustpan on the kitchen floor.

Derek sent home Canadian tuques for everyone in the family.  The best was when he sent home an extra white one (girl hat) for my twin brother and his future wife. (It's funny because he is currently not dating anyone.)

And of course, the Christmas season would not be so, if we didn't have our annual Walker Family Christmas Party.  Over 100 people, Santa's visit, gifts galore, soup and soup bowls, fun and games, and much more.
What did you do over your HOLIDAY??
